Denim Shorts

Everybody likes different styles that would rather have the simpler pockets, though very simple in appearance are the most current line of clothing one can have. So look for those denim shorts that fit perfectly on your hips, not too tight, not too loose.  Also really that they aren’t too low-rise, it’s a breath of fresh air when you wear these on and they don’t show your bum!. Styles

Classic Shorts

These are shorts that end at about mid-thigh. This is the most generally flattering style, especially if the cut (shape or line) of the short is the same as the line of your legs. The simpler the style and the hem, the better.

Relaxed Shorts

The right choice if you are a bit curvy, just avoid shorts that end right at knee level. The fabric used for this cut is usually softer, so that it drapes well. Relaxed shorts convey a casual look, and are generally appropriate for exercising or sports, not for the office.

Short Shorts

Categorized as “short shorts”, they commonly have an inseam length of 2 inches (50 mm) or less. These are short, tight shorts, usually made of cotton, nylon, or some other common material. They are meant to emphasize the buttocks and the legs. Launched by fashion designer Mary Quant during the “Swinging London” scene of the mid 1960s.

Great for girls with slim legs and hips and no cellulite! Just remember that location and occasion are every bit as important to making the right choice in outfit. Never wear short denim shorts or cut-off denim shorts to work. Women with wider hips and thicker thighs will tend to look shorter and wider with short shorts.

Boyshorts

Boyshort style bathing suit bottoms, in the US, similar to boxer briefs, but for females.

Bermuda Shorts

Approximately knee-length short trousers commonly worn in Bermuda (with long socks and a blazer and tie) for business attire and even at cocktail parties. The style has also been adopted as a casual style in other locales. Usually has pockets and waist loops for an optional belt.

No longer just for the beach! Bermuda shorts can be dressed down or up, and have become a staple in many fashionista’s wardrobes. They commonly end two or three inches above the knee, and thus tend to make your legs look shorter and heavier. Even though this is the most popular short for women over 40, I would recommend them mostly for women with thinner, longer legs.

Skorts

Have a piece of fabric in front, creating the illusion of being a skirt from the front. The term is a portmanteau of “skirt” and “shorts“.

Cut-offs or Daisy Dukes

Home-made by cutting the legs off trousers, typically jeans (known as “denim cut-offs“), above the knee. These were particularly popular in the early 1970s. The cut is not finished or hemmed and the fabric is left to fray. They became so popular that they were sold in stores as such. Originally a practical use for trousers with worn-through knees, they are now a type of shorts in their own right. The ultra-short version of jeans cut-offs are also known as Daisy Dukes, in reference to Catherine Bach‘s character of that name from the American television showThe Dukes of Hazzard. They are a form of hot-pants or short shorts.
